Webinar: Understanding Perceptions and Practices Related to Zika Prevention

Since the onset of Zika in Latin America and the Caribbean, USAID and implementing partners have worked to protect families by reducing the risk of new Zika infections. In order to raise awareness about Zika and promote key Zika prevention behaviors, it is helpful for researchers, program managers, and other public health professionals to understand who is carrying out these key behaviors and how perceptions about the behaviors could affect their practice. In 2018, Breakthrough ACTION + RESEARCH conducted research on the key priority Zika prevention behaviors to provide insight into ongoing programs and inform future implementation.

Breakthrough ACTION + RESEARCH cordially invite you to a webinar that will highlight study findings from the Dominican Republic and El Salvador on two Zika prevention behaviors: 1) use of mosquito repellents and 2) cleaning water storage containers. The webinar will include presentations on:

• Breakthrough RESEARCH quantitative cross-sectional research studies using population-based surveys that assessed knowledge, attitudes, and practices.
• Breakthrough ACTION qualitative research studies exploring the perceived feasibility and effectiveness of these behaviors.

The webinar will offer useful insights into the unique aspects of these behaviors that should be addressed in current and future programs in the region.
